Traditionally palliative care services have targeted clients with life ending diseases such as Cancer & HIV/Aids. However, as medical treatment has developed there are now a plethora of conditions which will shorten life but with no immediacy.
The aim of palliative care is to both ensure comfort/support of those actively dying and their families, as well as improving or maintaining quality of life for those with a longer prognosis.
Assessment and intervention within this clinical field can vary greatly but can include:
- anxiety management
- fatigue management
- leisure/social integration
- moving & handling
- housing and equipment advice
- carer support
Our skilled and experienced occupational therapists will support the client and their family/carers through their unique and individual experience, tailoring the package to suit their needs.
